Some of the most important qualities of Sovereign Lady II are difficult to fully appreciate through photographs and specifications alone.

I have known the yacht for many years and walked through her several times, but recently I had my first opportunity to spend time aboard while she was underway. It gave me a much clearer understanding of how naturally her layout, systems and living spaces work together.

Sovereign Lady II has been used for extended family cruising, with periods of five to six months spent living aboard. She has also been operated in very different ways, sometimes with professional crew and at other times with only two or three family members aboard.

That experience has shaped the yacht. Her layout has been tested through daily life, her systems have been selected for genuine cruising, and her extensive refit was approached with close attention to how every area would be used and maintained.

Designed around family life

Sovereign Lady II was created as a private family yacht, and that purpose is evident throughout her interior and exterior spaces.

The yacht provides several distinct areas where family and guests can gather, dine, relax or enjoy some time apart. This becomes particularly important when several people are living aboard for weeks or months at a time.

The main saloon is generous and beautifully finished, with panoramic windows, high-gloss cherrywood, comfortable lounges and a formal dining area. It is an elegant space, but it remains comfortable and welcoming.

Further forward, the large galley and country kitchen dining area give the yacht a much more relaxed family feel.

This was one of the family’s favourite parts of the yacht, and I can understand why. The galley has the refrigeration, appliances, preparation space and storage required for extended time aboard, while the adjoining U-shaped lounge creates a natural place for everyone to gather.

It works for breakfast, casual meals or simply sitting together while food is being prepared. It feels like the centre of daily life aboard rather than a galley that is hidden away from the rest of the yacht.

Several living areas, each with a clear purpose

One of the strongest aspects of Sovereign Lady II is the number of genuinely usable living and entertaining areas across the yacht.

Above the main deck, the enclosed and fully air-conditioned skylounge provides another substantial saloon. It also incorporates the helm station, allowing family and guests to sit with the captain and remain part of the journey while underway.

On longer passages, that makes a meaningful difference. Guests can enjoy the views, follow the navigation and spend time together rather than being separated from the operation of the yacht.

The skylounge opens directly onto the upper aft deck, which has been extensively improved to create a proper outdoor dining and entertaining area. There is generous seating, a wet bar, sun lounges and a crane for carrying additional water toys.

The yacht also offers the main aft deck, foredeck seating and the substantial hydraulic swim platform. Each space serves a different purpose, from formal dining and relaxed breakfasts to swimming, entertaining and quiet time away from the main group.

That versatility is not limited to family use. The same combination of spaces works just as well for entertaining on a much larger scale, and the yacht has hosted groups of 50 to 70 guests aboard for corporate and business entertaining. The main saloon, enclosed skylounge, upper aft deck and swim platform allow a crowd to spread out naturally, rather than everyone being funnelled into one area.

A 98-foot yacht that offers operating flexibility

At 29.8 metres, Sovereign Lady II provides the volume and accommodation expected of a substantial motor yacht.

What may surprise buyers is the flexibility she offers in how she can be operated.

The yacht has been used with professional crew, but she has also been operated two-up. Her yacht controller, aft wing docking station, cameras, navigation equipment and practical access throughout the yacht were selected to make her size easier to manage for an experienced owner.

This does not remove the option of employing crew. Instead, it allows the next owner to decide how they want to use the yacht based on the itinerary, the number of guests aboard and their own level of experience.

For an owner who values privacy and prefers to spend some time aboard with a smaller family group, that flexibility is particularly valuable.

Crew accommodation finished to guest standard

Sovereign Lady II has substantial crew accommodation positioned aft, with access from both the transom and the interior of the yacht.

The area includes a double cabin, two additional single berths, a bathroom, galley, refrigeration and laundry facilities.

During the refit, the crew cabins and adjoining crew living area were completely refurbished to the same standard as the yacht’s guest accommodation. This has created a generous and properly finished private area for professional crew.

When the yacht is operated without crew, the same accommodation can also provide additional space for family or guests.

This is an important part of the yacht’s versatility. It supports proper crewed operation when required, while remaining useful when the yacht is being enjoyed more privately.

A refit shaped by practical experience

The extensive refit of Sovereign Lady II was not limited to updating her appearance.

The owner approached the project with a civil engineering background and an exacting attention to detail. The focus was on presentation, operation, maintenance and how each area could be improved through practical use.

The high-gloss timberwork throughout the interior is one example. Two people reportedly spent approximately two months progressively sanding, cutting and polishing the timber to achieve the mirror-like finish seen throughout the yacht.

The exterior was fully painted and then kept on a regular maintenance program to preserve its presentation.

The flybridge was also substantially reworked. It had previously felt restricted, so the layout was opened up and developed into a much larger and more usable dining and entertaining area.

A large U-shaped lounge was added forward, while storage, access and serviceability were considered throughout the yacht.

These changes were not made simply to add features. They came from understanding how the yacht was being used and identifying where something could operate more effectively.

Prepared for longer passages

Sovereign Lady II has travelled extensively along the Australian east coast and was configured with longer passages in mind.

The hydraulic swim platform was specifically set higher out of the water than the standard Horizon arrangement. This modification was made to better suit offshore passages while still providing a substantial area for swimming, diving and launching water toys at anchor.

She is powered by low-hour twin Caterpillar C32 engines and is equipped with Trac stabilisers for improved comfort while underway.

At the helm, five 19-inch screens, onboard cameras and updated navigation equipment give the captain strong visibility and control across the yacht.

Twin generators and twin watermakers provide useful redundancy when travelling away from major ports, while the yacht’s substantial refrigeration, storage and accommodation support longer periods aboard.

The engine room reflects the same level of care seen throughout the yacht. It is clean, well organised and arranged so that machinery and systems are visible and accessible for inspection and maintenance.

A yacht that becomes clearer once you step aboard

Sovereign Lady II makes an immediate impression through her volume, finish and presentation.

Spending time aboard reveals something further. Her country kitchen, enclosed skylounge, multiple outdoor areas, flexible crew accommodation and practical operating systems have each been shaped by the way the yacht has genuinely been used.

She has accommodated extended family cruising, long periods living aboard, professional crew and owner operation. The refit reflects those experiences, with close attention given to the details that make a yacht easier to use, enjoy and maintain.

That is what makes an inspection so important. The photographs show the finish and scale, but walking through the yacht provides a far better understanding of how well the individual spaces work together.

Sovereign Lady II is currently offered for sale at $5,590,000 AUD. You can view her complete listing and specifications here.
